Final Entry

“And so we come to the last chapter, in which Pooh and Christopher Robin go to the enchanted part of the forest, and we say goodbye.

‘Goodbye . . . ? oh, no please. Can’t we go back to page one and do it over again?’

Sorry, Pooh but all stories have an ending, you know.

Oh, bother.’”

As I share this final entry, I am feeling much like Pooh . . . but yes, . . . all stories have an ending. My eight years proudly serving as your Director have passed by very quickly. As I reflect on all that we have accomplished, it is the culture of welcome, crossing the road and patient accompaniment of which I am most proud.   If that were to be the legacy of our work and time together, how very special.

As we close out 2020-2021 . . .

To Our Graduates,

“May God be with you and may He hold you in the palm of His hand.”

To My Fellow Retirees

“May the Lord bless you and keep you. May he make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you.”

“Sometimes you will never know that value of a moment until it becomes a memory.”

As we reflect on the years past, we have likely identified those moments that have helped to shape our careers. Some are those big moments that are easy to recognize, while there those others that might not have seemed as important at the time, but now upon reflection are those that have changed everything. Cherish the moments, cherish the memories.

“If you never did you should.  These things are fun and fun is good.”

Retirement means we get to try all the new things we never had time for before.  Enjoy and as new opportunities present themselves, we won’t forget to invite our friends who are still working! If you never did you should. These things are fun and fun is good.

To our LDCSB Staff and Students

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better.  It’s not.”

Thank you for all your efforts, your caring, your work.  You are making a difference, for our board, for your fellow staff and for our students.  Thank you to each of you for caring a whole awful lot.

How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
