Secondary Exam Study Tips

  • Start studying at least a week before the exam; give yourself enough time to review, ask questions, etc.

  • Create a study area where you will be free of distractions.

  • Use the SQ3R Strategy:
  1. Survey: before studying, get an overall picture of what you need to study.
  2. Question: ask questions to reinforce your own learning
  3. Read: actively read over the material.
  4. Recite: orally recite the material.
  5. Review: re-read, summarize key points and test yourself.
  • Organize a group study session.

  • Take breaks AWAY from your desk.

  • Stay well-rested; do NOT reduce your sleep to study.
